With the advancement of technology, various new types of glass are constantly emerging, and coated glass is one of them. Coated glass not only has the functions of ordinary glass, but also can enhance or weaken reflected light depending on different coatings. It can even directly utilize sunlight for power generation.
What is Suzhou coated glass
Coated glass is a type of glass with one or more layers of metal, alloy or metal compound films coated on its surface to alter its optical properties and meet certain specific requirements.
Coated glass can be classified into several types based on the different characteristics of the products: heat-reflective glass, low-emissivity glass (Low-E), conductive film glass, etc. Heat-reflective glass is generally made by coating one or more layers of films composed of metals such as chromium, titanium or stainless steel or their compounds on the surface of the glass, which makes the product present rich colors, has an appropriate transmittance for visible light, a high reflectance for infrared rays and a high absorption rate for ultraviolet rays. Therefore, it is also called solar control glass and is mainly used in buildings and glass curtain walls.
Low-emissivity glass is a type of glass with a film system composed of multiple layers of metals such as silver, copper or tin or their compounds coated on its surface. The product has a high transmittance of visible light and a high reflectivity of infrared rays, and has excellent heat insulation performance. It is mainly used in buildings and transportation vehicles such as automobiles and ships. Due to the poor strength of the film layer, it is generally made into insulating glass for use. Conductive film glass is a type of glass with conductive films such as indium tin oxide coated on its surface. It can be used for heating glass, defrosting, defogging, and as a liquid crystal display screen, etc.
There are many production methods for coated glass, mainly including vacuum magnetron sputtering, vacuum evaporation, chemical vapor deposition and sol-gel method, etc. Magnetron sputtering coated glass utilizes magnetron sputtering technology to design and manufacture multi-layer complex film systems. It can deposit various colors on white glass substrates. The film layers have good corrosion resistance and wear resistance, making it one of the most widely produced and used products at present.
The variety and quality of vacuum evaporation coated glass still have certain gaps compared with magnetron sputtering coated glass, and it has gradually been replaced by vacuum sputtering method. Chemical vapor deposition is a method in which reaction gas is introduced into the float glass production line to decompose on the hot glass surface and uniformly deposit on the glass surface to form coated glass. This method is characterized by low equipment investment, easy control, low product cost, good chemical stability, and the ability to undergo thermal processing. It is one of the production methods with promising development prospects at present.
The sol-gel method for producing coated glass is simple in process and has good stability. However, the drawback is that the light transmittance of the product is too high and its decorative effect is poor. Among coated glasses, heat-reflective glass and low-emissivity glass are widely used. Generally, two production methods are adopted: vacuum magnetron sputtering and chemical vapor deposition.
