Physical tempered glass is also known as quenched tempered glass. Tempered glass is produced by heating ordinary flat glass in a heating furnace to a temperature close to the softening point of the glass (600℃), and then eliminating internal stress through its own deformation. After that, the glass is removed from the heating furnace, and high-pressure cold air is blown onto both sides of the glass with multi-head nozzles to cool it rapidly and evenly to room temperature. This kind of glass is in a stress state of internal tension and external compression. Once a local area is damaged, the stress will be released and the glass will shatter into countless small pieces. These small fragments have no sharp edges or corners and are less likely to hurt people.
The application limitations of tempered glass manufacturers' products
(1) Generally, tempered glass is not suitable for areas such as roofs, canopies and skylights. Due to the need to take into account various factors such as snow accumulation and other loads, the possible walking of maintenance personnel, and the people under the glass, when the higher point of the roof glass is more than 5 meters above the ground, tempered glass cannot be used in these areas. It should be noted that tempered laminated glass is also not suitable for these parts. Because when tempered laminated glass breaks, it will also fall due to its own weight and/or other loads.
(2) Flooring: Since tempered glass cannot maintain its original shape after breaking and has no strength at all, it is not suitable for use as flooring glass, especially for suspended floors. The floor glass should be made of tempered laminated glass, and the surface of the floor glass used for pedestrians should also be treated for anti-slip purposes.
